Occam Labs complies with the the anti-spam provisions of Book XII of the Economic Code on the "law of the electronic economy", and also complies with the European Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of personal data by means of this privacy policy.

Occam Labs collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information (Name, email address, billing addresses, usernames, contact or authentication data)
  • Uploaded files (expert reports or “expertiseverslagen”)
  • Personal information about your clients that you voluntarily enter (Name, date of birth, gender, domestic situation)
  • Medical information about clients that you voluntarily enter (all data related to unfitness due to personal injury: dates and percentages)
  • Analytical data (log and usage data: actions you take and features you use on our website)

The legal basis for processing your data includes your consent, fulfilling a contract, or our legitimate interests, such as enhancing our services and ensuring user security. We keep this data as required by law and for as long as needed for the purposes it was collected.

2. How do we collect your data?

You directly provide us with most information we collect.

This happens when:

  • You register as a new user.
  • You voluntarily upload a document.
  • You save client data into our application.
  • You visit our website/app via cookies.

3. How will we use your data?

Occam Labs will only use the collected personal data for the following purposes:

  • Manage and bill your account as well as provide customer support, with the legal basis being the performance of a contract requested by you.
  • E-mail you about updates related to the product or other direct marketing purposes, with the legal basis being your explicit, prior consent.
  • Provide you with the service we promise (process and calculate relevant data to produce a damage claim)), with the legal basis being the performance of a contract requested by you.
  • Improve our app based on usage diagnostics, with the legal basis being Occam Labs' legitimate interests to continuously improve its app and services
  • Train new AI models to more effectively retrieve structured data from unstructured documents (using uploaded expert reports after anonymisation) using Google Document AI, with the legal basis being Occam Labs' legitimate interests to continuously improve its app and services.

If you agree, Occam Labs will share your data with our partner companies so that they may offer you their products and services, with the legal basis being your explicit, prior consent.

  • Google Analytics

4. How do we store and secure your data?

As we take the security of your data very seriously, we are committed to taking the necessary precautions in protecting it from misuse, unauthorised access/alterations, deletio and keeping it confidential.
You must at all times comply with the security regulations, including by preventing any unauthorised access to Your login and code. You are therefore solely responsible for the use made from the Website of Your computer, IP address and of Your identification data, as well as for their confidentiality.

In the case Occam Labs detects a data breach, you will be informed as soon as possible about:

  • The nature of the data breach.
  • The name and contact details of the data protection officer.
  • The possible consequences of the breach.
  • The measures taken to address the breach and adverse consequences.

5. For how long is your data stored?

Occam Labs will store your data as long as deemed necessary to fulfil the purpose which it serves, unless a longer period is mandated or justified by legal obligations. After personal data has been fully and properly anonymized, it can be kept for an indefinite period of time.

6. Disclosure of personal data to third parties

Personal data will only be shared with third parties if it is required for purposes that are stated in this Privacy Policy. These include, but are not limited to: storage (cloud) providers, freelancers


To secure your data, contractual engagements are implemented that ensure all parties treat your personal data according to all relevant privacy regulations.

Meanwhile, your data may be disclosed to other parties in following cases:

  • If legally required by competent authorities
  • If necessary to execute the Principal Agreement
  • If Occam Labs deems it necessary to protect their own rights
  • If you give explicit and written consent
  • In the context of M&A: if Occam Labs or its assets were to be acquired by a third party and your personal data is part of these assets. Occam Labs will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance of disclosing your data to said third party, but you also acknowledge that this may not be technically or commercially feasible in all circumstances.

7. What are your data protection rights?

Occam Labs would like to be as transparent as possible about your data protection rights by making you fully aware of them.
You are always entitled to the following:

The right to access - You have the right to request for copies of your stored personal data. A reasonable fee might be charged for the administrative costs of complying with your requested if it is manifestly unfounded or excessive, or when you request further copies of your data.

The right to rectification - You have the right to request that Occam Labs corrects any information that you believe is inaccurate. On top of this you can request to complete your data when you believe it is incomplete.

The right to erasure - You have to right to request that your personal data is erased, in case you withdraw your consent and there is no legal basis for processing of the data or the data is no longer needed for processing


The right to restrict processing - You have the right to request that Occam Labs restrict the processing of your personal data, under following conditions:

  • The correctness of the personal data is disputed by you
  • The processing is unlawful, and you prefer restricting the processing instead of erasure

The right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your data (as long as it remains possible to provide the promised service)


The right to data portability - You have the right to request that Occam Labs transfer the data we have collected to you or another organisation in a structured, common and machine-readable form.


The right to withdraw consent - To the extent that the processing is based on your prior consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent.


Automated individual decision making - You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning him or her or similarly significantly affects him or her.


When a request is made to exercise one of these rights, we have thirty days to respond to you.
